Elbow Condition Treatment
Elbow Arthroscopy
Shoulder conditions and injuries that can be treated arthroscopically include:
Elbow arthroscopy is a modern, minimally invasive procedure that, in many cases, has replaced traditional open surgery. Initially introduced as a diagnostic tool, it now enables a specialized orthopedic surgeon to address joint issues through small incisions, using specialized instruments.
The advantages of arthroscopy include:
It is used for treating conditions such as epicondylitis, cartilage lesions, loose bodies, arthritis, and posterolateral instability.
Procedure:
The procedure is performed under anesthesia (local, regional, or general). Through a small incision, an arthroscope with a miniature camera is inserted, displaying the joint’s image on a monitor. The surgeon then uses specialized micro-instruments to remove loose bodies, repair ligaments or cartilage lesions, and clean the joint.
After the procedure, the joint is mobilized immediately without weight-bearing, followed by a tailored physiotherapy program for full recovery.
